Coronavirus live: Total cases 147, S&P lowers India's growth forecast

Coronavirus cases have crossed 182,000 all over the world with over 7,100 deaths. Of these, China has over 80,800 positive cases while Italy's tally stands over 27, 900. Centre asks pvt hospitals to reserve beds

Seeking to boost preparedness to combat Covid-19, the government asked private hospitals to reserve beds for isolation of patients. The govt also issued separate guidelines for clinical management of the disease and protocol for the handling of bodies of the deceased. Private labs have been asked to collect samples from doorstep to avoid the risk of infection.

'CAA not an answer to all religious persecution'

Countering the allegation that CAA was discriminatory as it didn't consider citizenship to persecuted minorities like Ahmadis, Shias, Bahaiis, Hazaras, Jews and Balochs, the Centre said, “CAA doesn't seek to provide answers to all kinds of purported persecution." Centre told the SC that CAA is a narrowly tailored legislation which addresses a specific problem.

Coronavirus updates: 138 +ve cases reported in India

The number of novel coronavirus cases in the country rose to 125 on Tuesday after fresh cases were reported from several states. The cases include 22 foreign nationals and two persons who died in Delhi and Karnataka. According to the ministry's data, 13 people have been discharged so far, including the three Kerala patients.
63-year-old is India’s 3rd death, 1st in Maha

Maharashtra on Tuesday recorded its first Covid-19 casualty — India’s third — with the death of a 63-year-old man who was undergoing treatment in Chinchpokli. Another patient undergoing treatment at the same hospital is said to be critical. Two more persons in the state — from Mumbai and from Pune — also tested positive on Tuesday, taking the state’s count to 41.
Sensex sheds 811 pts, Nifty closes below 9k

The day’s selling was again led by foreign funds with a net outflow figure of Rs 4,045 crore, BSE data showed. Banking and financial services stocks were again at the forefront of the sell-off with ICICI Bank (down 9%), IndusInd Bank (8.9%) and Bajaj Finance (6.3%) among the top sensex laggards. Of the 30 sensex stocks, nine closed higher with HUL (up 3.5%) and Hero MotoCorp (3.1%) leading.
