Reliance staff, contractor booked for IPCL blast
NAVI MUMBAI: The Nago-thane police have booked five top Reliance officials and the contractor under section 304 (A) of the Indian Penal Code for causing death due to negligence at the chemical explosion in the Reliance-owned Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (IPCL) plant on Friday.
Among those booked is the Nagothane president of Reliance Industries Limited, S R Yadwadkar, who heads IPCL. Others booked include the vice president (technical), plant manager, plant supervisor, safety supervisor, and the contractor who was employed at the IPCL plant to do the repair work.
The SP of Raigad district, Pratap Dighavkar, said that no arrests have been made so far. Mantr-alaya officials said the IPCL’s top management should also be booked under the Factories Act for negligence.
